Signs of the City: Manistee

In our Signs of the City series, we highlight signage projects we’ve completed across Michigan, showcasing the businesses behind them and the craftsmanship that brings each project to life. These stories are more than just signs, they’re about the communities we’ve worked alongside for generations and the relationships built along the way.

This edition of Signs of the City takes us to Manistee, a community that holds deep roots for our team. Through Amor Sign, which Johnson Sign proudly acquired, we’ve been part of the Manistee community since 1946. For decades, we’ve helped local businesses, organizations, and community spaces create signage that reflects the character and pride of this lakeshore town.

Manistee is the kind of place where small businesses are the heart of the community and familiar faces are everywhere you go. It’s a town built on relationships, where people know each other by name and local businesses continue to support one another generation after generation. That strong sense of community is something we’ve always valued and are proud to continue being part of today.

From downtown storefronts to local landmarks and long-standing businesses, we’re proud to highlight some of the projects that have helped shape the visual identity of Manistee over the years.
