More than Signs

We believe that this is about more than signs.

We have come to understand that what we do in our ordinary, everyday lives matters just as much as any religious actions, extraordinary deeds, or noteworthy accomplishments. We recall the story of a King who came not to be served but to serve – treating people like they matter.

We believe that every interaction we have with a potential client, whether they become a customer or not, matters. Every team member in our company, every vendor we work with, our bookkeepers, our bankers, our neighbors – they matter. Every penny our company earns, spends or borrows matters. The impact on our communities of the way we do business, matters. The way we live and treat the world we live in matters.

We believe there is a glory, a weightiness in every human being and everything we do. And when you choose to work with us- trust in our team with your project, your vision for it, and your financial investment – we believe that matters .

It’s more than signs.

Better Together

Recognizing the need for a strong regional sign company in Southeast Michigan, the leadership team at Johnson Sign Co. began negotiations with two of Michigan’s well known sign companies. In the spring of 2016 we were successful in acquiring Douglas Sign Co. of Lansing. All of the staff was retained, as well as the equipment & facility. The addition of Douglas Sign has added an impressive amount of talented & experienced people to our group. In the fall of 2017 the plan came together with the merger of Huron Sign Co. of Ypsilanti. Once again, the entire staff was retained, as simply one of the best assets to come out of the deal.

Looking forward, we anticipate growth & prosperity beyond our dreams! We have a combined company wide experience of nearly 400 years!

Our manufacturing & installation capabilities have made us one of the states largest producers of custom fabricated signs. We have a significant footprint in lower Michigan with our three plants. Together we have one of the state’s largest installation fleets. We have a team of administrators, designers & project managers all ready to assist you on your next project.

Back in the 1960’s, James “Jim” Johnson noticed a need that almost every business had. The need he noticed was for good signs to brand and identify consumer’s businesses. In 1964, he made his notion/dream a reality. With his loving wife’s (Beverly) approval, along with 6 young children at home, he took the risk and put it all on the line to open Johnson Sign Co. We are all extremely thankful for his risk because over 50 years later it is still going strong.
